Non-profit marketing agency in Los Angeles

Non-profit marketing that moves people to act.

A non-profit competes for the same attention as every brand in the feed, with a fraction of the budget. What wins is the story. Davel builds cause campaigns, brands and websites that make people stop, feel and act, for cancer support organisations, a UN agency and community non-profits across the country.

Nobody donates to a statistic.
People give, volunteer and share when a story makes the cause personal. That is a craft, and it is the one we have been recognised for more than any other: three MUSE Creative Awards Gold, all three for cause campaigns.

A few honest questions for non-profit leaders.

  1. When someone sees your campaign between a sneaker ad and a friend’s vacation, what makes them stop? If the honest answer is nothing, the story is not doing its job.
  2. How much of your team’s time goes into producing content that only gets seen by people who already support you?
  3. What has a campaign that did not land cost you: the grant report with no reach numbers, the event that did not fill, the volunteers who never came?
  4. And if the next campaign looks like the last one, what changes?
We build the stories that make people stop, feel and act.
Cancer Support Community: "See Me, Not My Cancer" Campaign
Case in point

“See Me, Not My Cancer”: a campaign that shifted the focus from illness to identity.

Created for Cancer Support Community, the campaign is told through the eyes of people living with and beyond cancer. It centres on connection, presence and the fundamental human need to be treated like everyone else. People do not want pity. They want to feel seen.

The campaign won a MUSE Creative Awards Gold in 2026, the third Gold for a Davel cause campaign after Empower Her Voice and Embracing Masculinity in 2023.

Everything a cause needs to be heard.

Non-profits rarely have the budget to buy marketing in pieces. We build what a campaign actually needs, as one team, and scope it to what the organisation can carry:

  • Cause campaigns. The story, the concept, the film and the visuals, from a single idea to a rollout across social, print and events.
  • Brand identity.Naming, identity and the visual system that makes an organisation look as serious as its mission.
  • Websites.Sites that serve several audiences at once: the person who needs help, the donor, the volunteer, the funder.
  • Social media content.Reels, stories and photography that keep the cause visible between campaigns.
  • Awareness and fundraising ads.Paid social and Google campaigns for awareness weeks, appeals and events, watched and adjusted daily.
  • Reports and print.Annual reports and materials that make the year’s work legible to the people who fund it.
The difference is the story.
We make the cause personal.

Picture your next campaign landing.

A stranger stops scrolling and watches the whole film. She shares it, and the people who share hers have never heard of you. The awareness week fills the event. The funder opens the annual report and understands the year in five minutes.
That is what a story does when it is built properly. Design is simply how we get there.

How we work with non-profits.

The people the organisation serves come first. The mission statement comes last.

01

Find the human story.

We talk to the people the organisation serves and the people who serve them. The campaign is built from what they say, not from the mission statement.

02

Shape the idea.

One idea, tested against the audience, the channels and the budget, agreed before production starts.

03

Produce with care.

Film, photography, design and copy, with consent and sensitivity built into every step. Real people, real stories.

04

Put it in front of the right people.

Organic and paid distribution, multilingual where the audience needs it, with the reach reported the way funders want to see it.

This is the work we are known for.

Questions people ask

We have a small budget. Is that a problem?
It shapes the work; it does not stop it. We scope campaigns to what an organisation can carry, and we tell you on the first call what is realistic. Some of the best work on this page was made with very little.
Do you work with government and international organisations?
Yes. Our work for IOM, the UN Migration agency, ran as a multilingual awareness campaign for migrant workers. We are used to procurement, approvals and reporting.
Can you handle sensitive subjects?
It is most of what we do. Cancer, trafficking, infertility, smoking, grief: every campaign starts with the people affected, with consent and care built in, and never with pity.
Do you build websites for non-profits?
Yes. Community Housing Innovations needed a site that serves several audiences at once; we restructured it so each visitor finds their path quickly.
What does it cost?
It depends on scope. We tell you honestly on the first call what your budget can and cannot do, and we would rather do less, well, than more, badly.
Like what you see?

Would it be worth one call to find out what your next campaign could do?

Pick a time that suits you. One call, no slides, no pitch: you leave knowing what your next campaign could do and what it would take.

Prefer to write first? Leave your details on the contact form and we will call you.
